Family Counseling

If you look up the word “family” in the dictionary, it is classified as a noun or adjective. In reality, it should be a verb as well. Just because individuals live under the same roof and share relatives, does not necessarily mean that they feel or even interact in a familial way. Being a well-functioning family takes effort from everyone. It takes communication, unconditional love, quality time, and understanding.

Everyone has good days and bad days. It is those bad days that we sometimes need a little extra help getting through. Sometimes small issues are swept under the rug, and left unresolved, but there is only so much room under that rug! Tensions can build and affect others in the household without any knowledge. Whether it is individual stress from school, work, or other relationships, everyday stressors from having a family member who has more needs than others, divorce, or blending families; with the right guidance and a bit of effort, family life can be healthier and happier for everyone.

Family counseling focuses on discovering the needs and concerns of all family members and working together to come up with a plan for how to improve daily life and functioning of the family as a whole.
