The start of the bio is usually where the therapist gives a long-winded talk about the methods and modalities that they use during treatment. I will save you that and say that whatever it is that you are struggling with, there is a way forward. Whether it be free from anxiety or depression, or to be free from family strife, we can get there. I have seen people make amazing progress, and I firmly believe that everyone has the potential to address their concerns. It may take time and effort, and it may not be easy, but YOU CAN DO IT.
I attended the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign where I obtained my bachelor’s degree in social work. From there I spent five years as a long-term case manager supporting adults and the elderly with intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities – often with co-occurring severe and persistent mental illness. After that, I felt experienced enough to continue my education and in 2018, I obtained my master’s degree in social work with an emphasis in mental health treatment from Loyola University Chicago. While in graduate school, I started as an intern at The Therapy Tree and was hired as a part-time therapist upon graduation. Since then, I have worked with children as young as two, teenagers, adults, and families, and I have loved every second of it. I am currently working on obtaining my master’s degree in nursing with the hopes of becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner. In my free time, I love going to punk rock shows (you will find me in the mosh pit), riding my motorcycle, and trying to find a way to look professional while also having a mohawk year-round…success in this area continues to elude me.
