The Therapy Tree is proud to host the Lake Villa Flying Dragons
The Lake Villa Flying Dragons is a martial arts school, run by Master Frank Mueller. Classes are held in our upstairs Wellness Center Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. They have been serving the community for a little over two years by teaching the art of KiMu Do.
What is KiMu Do?
The martial art known as KiMu Do is a child and adult friendly program which serves families of every kind. KiMu Do is a Korean martial art that primarily incorporates elements of Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido and Judo. KiMu Do is designed to be practical, versatile, and effective at a variety of different ranges and in a variety of different situations. The Tae Kwon Do – derived kicks and strikes provide excellent power at medium and long range, while the throws, locks, chokes and joint manipulation of Judo and Hapkido allow for effective close range fighting and grappling. KiMu Do is a living, growing martial art that continues to expand and change.
In addition to the core elements of Tae Kwon Do, Judo and Hapkido, KiMudo also includes techniques from Jujitsu, Karate, boxing, wrestling, traditional weapons from Kinawa and the Philippines, and many other arts and styles. KiMudo is more than just an effective system of self-defense; it is a martial art that encourages students to realize their own potential, physically, mentally and spiritually.
Who are the Instructors?
The Head Instructor of the Lake Villa Flying Dragons is Master Frank Mueller, who has been practicing the martial arts for over 30 years and instructing for over 25 years. He is assisted by his daughter, Krystina, who has been practicing for over 10 years as well. Together they promote a family environment that builds confidence, self-control, physical conditioning, and discipline in which both children and adults can excel.
Is KiMu Do right for me or my child?
Though Master Mueller recommends the martial arts to everybody, it’s not for everybody which is why the Lake Villa Flying Dragons offers 2 introductory classes at no charge. The only way you will know if you or your children will like it is to try it and these introductory classes allow prospective students to try it out and see if this is something they want to do. We work with a variety of different students from children to adults and students whom may be working with things like ADHD, coordination, self-esteem and much more.
KiMu Do classes are held on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays with both beginner and advanced levels. Check out the current schedule by clicking here. The cost for classes is as follows:
- 1 class per week: $60/month 1st person, $45/month 2nd person
