As a young child I instinctively knew my life’s calling was to work with and help people. It has been my pleasure to assist children, adolescents and adults in various settings for over ten years. My graduate school internships were quite diverse and included therapeutic work at a shelter in Chicago for runaway and homeless adolescents, a community based drop-in center for adolescents, and at a public elementary school.
Upon graduation, I provided daily group psychotherapy in a therapeutic milieu for preschool age children. After three years, I found my way into special education as a therapist at a therapeutic elementary school. I provided individual, group and family therapy and developed in-home behavior intervention plans. I taught the human development and sexuality curriculum, which I loved! I have extensive knowledge of the special education process and development/maintenance of an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Since August 2014, I have been working at The Therapy Tree and truly appreciate the multi-disciplinary approach to improving people’s lives. I believe that all human beings have an intrinsic ability to be their best self. Yet, there are times when people desire or require entering into a therapeutic relationship in order to meet that end goal. With support, encouragement, empathy and the foundation of hope, I believe healthy changes are possible for every individual.
